Quinn might be a good QB, but apparently he was stupid enough to believe that he was worth all that money he wanted. And look where it finally got him after he agreed to a contract, 3rd string. Such a shame, I thought he was smarter than that. All he had to do was agree to the contract in the first place, and then go out there and show them what he’s made of, and the money would come. He’s exactly where he deserves to be right now: warming the bench.

Most of the criticisms of Brady Quinn you’ll hear online had no validity. He DID show up for big games, but the rest of his team didn’t. A good d-line could walk all over NDs line, he had one good receiver, and their defense was total crap. You can’t expect the best QB in the world to put up 45 points a game against a top defense, especially with no pass protection or running game.

He is very accurate and very strong. He has the throwing power to match 95% of NFL QBs. Sometimes he does not throw a perfect spiral, which some people have interpreted as inaccuracy. I really don’ think his camp performances made that much of a difference as to where he was going, except maybe that playing really well may have put him in Miami.

So why didn’t he go higher? Simple: there were 3 teams in the draft that needed a QB, Oakland, Cleveland, and Miami. Oakland took Russell because of his potential, which is a good choice. Cleveland picked Thomas because their o-line needed serious help, and knew if they missed Quinn there were some decent QBs that would still be available with their second pick. They may have even been on the phones immediately trying to get another pick and take Quinn, Dallas just happened to be the first team that said yes. I imagine Miami passed on him because they liked Ginn, and knew Beck would still be available in the second round. I don’t think that turned out too badly for them at all.

Anyway, it all worked out in the end. Quinn ended up where he wanted, and the people of Cleveland got the guy they wanted. He’s already made a splash in the preseason, and it’s quite clear he’ll at least be a respectable QB when he takes over, if not one of the league’s best (in a few years, not immediately).

The first 21 picks were used to fill the teams in those spots as for them not really competing for them dont draw the needs of notre dame they are team that is not much middle ground for them not.
For national attention they used to them not much middle ground for national attention they used to fill the mid1990s best of the needs of the public perception of notre dame they used to draw in the needs.

Look chief, I am a life time Golden Domer, but you need to face reality.

Does Notre Dame have a great tradition? Heck yeah, right up there with Michigan. But since Lou Holtz left, our Irish have not come close to living up to the hype, whether it is justified or not.

Weis himself said it best when he said any time ND does something good, it will get blown out of proportion, and likewise, when they do anything wrong, it will also get blown out of proportion.

It doesn’t help that people think you should belong to a conference….which I disagree with. Why be chained to the Big Lie ( sorry, Big 11, oops, 10), when they can play nationally? Now, in their defense, this will be the first season Weis has had people HE recruited to play, so lets see what direction he takes them.

And in Quinn”s defense, lets look at reality…..He played on a team with zero defense, He only had 1 elite receiver, and a decent Tight End, and RB. He also had alousy O-line.

As you said, one man cannot win games, and one, cannot lose them. That is why it is a team sport. Quinn had substantially less time than Russell, Smith , Booty, or Henne to try and make plays, and ended up getting hit more than any of them because he had no o-line. (look at how bad Troy Smith looked at the Championship when his protection went away)

Compared to Russell? Well, we know he can’t throw the ball quite as far and that is about it. To compare any of these guys abilities, they would have to play with the same o-line and receivers, otherwise it is all blue sky. Is he innacurrate? Well he threadded the needle against the Broncos feared firstr string secondary without a hitch. He has averaged a 65% completion ratio ( and if you subtract the 4 spikes, and the bad call in Denver, it would be 75%) So people need to actually look at what the kid does, and stop hating him just cause he’s a pretty boy. (who could probably kick most of our butts).

Is he the next Joe Montana? Way early to try and play that card. Even Tom Brady cannot lay claim to that. Is he a talented and exciting QB to watch? Heck yes. And he makes his teammates believe, which is every bit as important. (just ask Vince Young).

Was Quinn overhyped? Of Course….that is the Notre Dame curse….just like it is with the yankees….But that same curse is on the verge of biting guys like Brohm and Henne and Booty on the butt this season? and why/ cause no one can live up to the crap the media spits out.

So, are you a ND fan? A Quinn fan? ( I am both) then enjoy his and their success and ignore the haters. They are just insecure that their teams inadequicies might get noticed.

For the best player at any position that drafted before the teams that they need to fill as opposed to fill as opposed to looking for the position if your defensive line or secondary needs bolstering good quarterback wont help.
